    Team Topaz 2024/25

Your Class teacher is Ms Reid

Your Teaching Assistants are Mrs Sides and Mrs Kellaway

It has been another busy week in Team Topaz!

In Maths, we found out about compound measures and calculated our mean speed when travelling in a variety of ways! We measured a set distance and then were timed by a partner travelling this distance. This allowed us to calculate our speed: speed = distance / time. We did this three times to be able to calculate the mean speed.

In English, we have been continuing our work on the book, 'Oceanology' and created creatures that we will encounter on our journey. We wrote a descriptive paragraph about each creature.

In Science, we continued our look at the strange and wonderful systems within the bodies of different types of animals and compared them to those of humans. In RE, we completed our own mandala design and ensured that they followed the rules of symmetry! In PSHE, we discussed our values and beliefs and created role plays of scenarios where those values and beliefs may be challenged and what we should and could do in these situations. In History, we found out how the Maya communicated through writing and the symbols (glyphs) they used. We then created our own Mayan sentence and our own glyph to represent something in the modern world.

Next week we will be completing our Oceonology pages and thinking of inventive way to present our writing as inspired by the book, completing our investigation into animal body systems and thinking about moving to our new schools and our memories of being at Hobletts.

Next week we will be performing our play, 'Pirates of the Curry Bean' on:

    Tuesday 15th July at 1.30pm

    Wednesday 16th July at 6pm

Can children please be back at school at 5.30pm before the evening performance on Wednesday.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!
