This week we continued our poetry unit and created similes and metaphors. We planned and wrote a poem about a toaster, using a dragon as a metaphor. We will be looking at persuasion next week, looking at adverts and writing our own persuasive advert.
In Maths, we worked on problem solving and multistep questions using the four different operations. We had to identify which of the information was relevant and what it was asking us to do. We will continue with this next week and also include time problems.
In our curriculum areas, for science we looked at the lifecycle of plants and the difference between asexual and sexual reproduction. In PSHE we discussed the responsibilities of becoming a teenager. We had a great workshop from STEM making our own catapults using lolly sticks firing a pompom using a different pivot position to see which went the furthest. We then built our own catapults from KNEX to fire a table tennis ball over a wall.
Yesterday we spent some time with our new teachers. We enjoyed looking around our classrooms and getting to know our new team members. It was lovely to be able to show our class subject books and the work that we have done this year. Thank you for coming.
PE days are Monday and Wednesday each week.
